|Bread of Life Outreach (BOLO) is a non-profit food distribution ministry run by Newport Assembly of God Church located in Newport, Pennsylvania. Since 1994, BOLO has been able to provide for the physical needs of low income families in the Perry County area (as of Jan. 1, 2013 we have 1,665 active families) by supplementing their food budget through offering a variety of food and other household products at a monthly food distribution service. While the monthly distribution service is held the second Saturday of each month, additional hours are available Monday, Wednesday & Friday from 9:00 a.m. until Noon, to meet emergency needs such as diapers, formula, cleaning supplies and health and beauty products, plus over the counter medicine.
However, our main focus goes well beyond the usual bag of food and a handshake. BOLO strives to demonstrate God's love through the redeeming power of Jesus Christ by meeting the spiritual, as well as the practical needs of those in our Perry County community and beyond our borders.
In addition to reaching out to those in our area, through God's provision, BOLO has had opportunities to supply food, medicines, medical supplies, medical equipment and personal care items to areas of the former Soviet Union, Belize, Haiti, India, Mexico City as well as Native Americans in the United States. Following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, BOLO was able to ship truck loads of water, non-perishables, diapers, formula and tools. Church members volunteered for 2 week trips to Louisiana and Mississippi to provide assistance to those affected by the storm. BOLO has also had the privilege to stage the distribution of 24 truckloads of food and relief supplies to hurricane Sandy victims in New Jersey and New York.
