Bread of Life Outreach (BOLO) is a non-profit ministry conducted by Newport Assembly of God Church located in Newport, Pennsylvania. Since 1994 it has demonstrated God's love through the redeeming power of Jesus Christ by meeting the practical and spiritual needs of families in local Perry and Juniata County communities. We believe all people are created by God and are the objects of His love and concern. Therefore BOLO serves all equally and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national or ethnic origin.
Currently (January 2016), the BOLO active recipient list is comprised of 1,900 families representing over 4,500 individuals. This outreach offers financially challenged families material assistance through supplying a variety of food, cleaning supplies, health and beauty products, diapers, formula and non-prescription medicines. Food distributions are held the second Saturday of each month at the Family Life Center in Newport and the fourth Saturday at the Newport Assembly of God Thompsontown campus. Recipients can obtain additional products on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. until Noon at the BOLO warehouse located at 35 N. Front Street in Newport.
In addition, the BOLO ministry, through our church outreaches and those of our partners, has touched lives throughout the U.S and around the globe. BOLO has supplied food, medicines, medical supplies, medical equipment and personal care items to areas of the former Soviet Union, Belize, Haiti, India, Mexico City as well as Native American communities in the United States. Following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, BOLO shipped truckloads of water, non-perishables food items, diapers, formula and tools to the affected areas. Church members volunteered for 2 week trips to Louisiana and Mississippi to provide assistance to those impacted by the storm. BOLO also staged the distribution of 24 truckloads containing relief supplies to hurricane Sandy victims in New Jersey and New York.
Since the beginning of BOLO in 1994 through December of 2015, God has miraculously enabled BOLO volunteers to receive, process and distribute over 39,831 tons of materials valued at over $136,000,000.
